In the beginning Shuttlerush was just four friends who wanted get fit by playing badminton – that was back in 2012. Four friends quickly grew, mainly by word-of-mouth, into 35. We started in a school hall and as you can imagine we quickly outgrew that space. So, that’s how we’ve ended up at North Solihull Sports Centre.
We are a friendly club who invite anyone with an interest to give badminton a go. Hence our title Badminton for all!
Shuttlerush has a range of members from beginners to more experienced players. Some of us also play in the Birmingham Badminton league. Good bit of competitive fun! You can read about our latest league results here
Every other week we have a level 2 coach that helps members for FREE. So don’t worry, you will definitely improve your badders-self (apologies we couldn’t resist a good pun).
We hold in house badminton tournaments during the year and at Christmas we give the subs to a charity of the clubs choosing. Also, most of us love a good dance and those that don’t definitely love to eat, so we always hold a Post-Christmas Party. This is a great time where players can bring their partners and family friends to join in the fun.
We are a mixed group who are happy to play at different levels and encourage new people to give badminton a chance. (Also, Winter is coming, and this will help you loose those extra festive inches).
We do other social activities, for example, we play Touch Rugby and some of us occasionally pop to the pub after a good work out.
